Believe it or not, Anthony Hopkins’ addiction to alcohol arose in his early acting career to get over the feeling that he did not belong on stage. He drank constantly to get over his anxiety about performing and as such his addiction spiraled out of control. His turning point occurred when he woke up in another state and had not memory of how he got there. He got help and has been sober since 1975.
