Edgar Allan Poe struggled with alcohol his entire life and it was partially due to the fact that his father was also an alcoholic. His drinking was so bad that one day he was found passed out drunk in the streets of Baltimore. He was quickly rushed to the hospital but there was nothing that could be done to save him. He died at the young age of 40 due to his addiction.
