Michael J. Fox began his addiction to alcohol later in life as it was his way of coping with his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. His diagnosis brought a great deal of fear and uncertainty about his future and he turned to alcohol as a way to deal. However his family came together to support him and help him find better ways of coping and facing his disease. He has since created the Michael J. Fox foundation and stays sober.
